Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteer at the Library

The Valleyview Municipal Library welcomes volunteer helpers. Volunteers supplement the work of paid staff, but never replace library employees. Volunteer tasks are rarely exciting, but they are useful and necessary and we appreciate all offers of help.

What Volunteers Do At Valleyview Municipal Library:

  • Shelf-straighteners, shelf-readers, and shelvers help ensure that patrons and staff can find Library materials right where they're supposed to be.
  • Circulation Desk Helper - assists patrons and checks books in and out.
  • Book Sale Volunteers - give withdrawn and donated books a second chance to find a home by maintaining the Never-Ending Book Sale shelves.
  • Seasonal Displays/Craft preparation - These volunteers prepare seasonal displays and materials for children's craft programs.
  • Plant Helper - Help tend/water the plants in the library.
  • Teen Advisory Group members (teens aged 12 to 18 years)  to recommend and review library materials for teens.
